Support for Parents & Caregivers - Clear Lake

Partnering with Parents to Support Healthy, Happy Kids

In addition to providing behavioral and mental health support for kids through direct interaction with young people, our team also recognizes the importance of supporting parents and caregivers. We offer a number of services that allow us to partner with parents to continue supporting their child’s success outside of the office. Below, you can find more information about some of the many parent and caregiver support services we offer.

Educational & Special Educational Consultation Services

To help parents who are struggling with aspects of their child’s behavioral, educational, or interpersonal development, we may recommend a one-on-one consultation with one of our clinicians. During these consultations, we work with parents, discussing specific concerns and identifying strategies for addressing them.

We can also provide recommendations for a number of issues, including behavior, discipline, academic performance, social skills, tantrums, anger, sensory issues, grief, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, and many more.

If your child is struggling academically, we can review their education and special education records, evaluations, as well as current and past services and programming to assist parents in making informed educational decisions.

You can learn more on our Educational and Special Educational Consultation Services page.

Parent Training and Behavior Support

As a parent, you’ve probably told your child that “practice makes perfect.” The same is true of parenting. Our parent training and behavior support sessions with a child psychologist are great opportunities to learn and practice new parenting skills when you need them the most. During our individualized parent training sessions, you can expect the following:

  • Our psychologist will review your child’s needs in order to identify the most important behaviors to target, and then, we’ll develop a plan for how to implement the strategies recommended.
  • Parents will learn how to implement strategies for improving behavior and communication in the home and community settings.
  • Parents will receive individualized visual supports for the home along with direct instruction and practice in the most effective ways to work directly with their children.

Child Therapy

Our team is also happy to work directly with kids between the ages of 5 and 17. We offer child therapy services utilizing a range of solution-focused, evidence-based techniques to help kids with specific diagnoses as well as those who are struggling with trauma, loss, or other difficult life challenges and changes. You can learn more on our Child Therapy page, or you should always feel free to reach out to our team to learn more.

Parent Support Group

Our Parent to Parent support group is the perfect place to connect with other parents in a safe, supportive environment. In addition to participating in group conversations about your own challenges, our group facilitator will provide discussion and review of good parenting strategies to tackle those difficult parenting situations.
